What you can do

What can you do to save The Indianapolis Star?

A great deal.

The opinions of readers and advertisers matter to executives at The Star, and thus to their corporate bosses at Gannett. But only if you make enough noise. Here’s a list of things you can do to make your voice heard, to help save The Star.

  • Contact Star publisher Karen Crotchfelt and tell her The Star’s profits need to stay in Indianapolis. Tell her it’s time to reinvest in The Star by adding more journalists, not cutting them, and to pay them competitive wages. Tell her you want more local news, not less. Karen be reached at 444-8131 or by email at karen.crotchfelt@indystar.com.
  • Contact Star editor and vice president Dennis Ryerson and give him the same message. Let him know that you want more local news. Reach Dennis by email at dennis.ryerson@indystar.com or by phone at 444-6169.

  1. As a former 35-year employee and the wife of a printer who worked for The Star for 40+ years, we are saddened by the conditions our former co-workers and friends endure under Gannett ownership. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

  2. My mother runs a small, bi-weekly newspaper in southern Indiana. Every year she is approached by larger news agencies seeking to buy her out, and every year she refuses because she is afraid the paper would be printed elsewhere and staffers would lose their jobs. It is disgusting how little Gannett cares for the lifeblood of our community- working people and their families.

  3. Another too typical story of the community and the average person suffering for corporate greed–the 99% getting destroyed by the 1%. We will support you!!
